Highland Firm Wins Major Port Contract 13/12/2012

Cromarty Firth Port Authority (CFPA) have just announced that a Highland firm has won the environmental impact assessment contract for the next stage of their major port expansion plan.
Environmental consultancy firm Affric was awarded the contract after successfully completing a comprehensive tender process. Set to take 3-4 months to complete, this is a major win for a company which was only established 6 months ago.
The exciting Port expansion plans will ultimately see 8 acres of land reclaimed from the sea and the addition of a deep water berth to the existing Invergordon Service Base.

Captain Ken Gray, Chief Executive & Harbour Master at the Port comments “I am delighted that a local firm have been successful in their bid to undertake this contract, demonstrating the economic benefits a project of this size can deliver to a region.  Initial environmental scoping took place over the last year and the commissioning of the environmental assessment is the next stage in this exciting project.”
Fiona Henderson, Director of Affric added “We are thrilled to have won the contract and it’s a fantastic way to end the year.  Having established the company just 6 months ago, this is the fourth major win for Affric. To be working on projects which are going to facilitate the growth of the energy sector in Scotland is exactly where we want to be.  This project not only benefits Affric, but also involves four associate companies, all of whom will be working together to deliver this contract”.
Affric provides professional Environmental consultancy services, from feasibility to decommissioning, supporting the Energy industry from Nuclear to Renewables, including grid and infrastructure requirements.

Ken concluded “The awarding of this contract to Affric further demonstrates the economic benefits to the Highlands in the form of investment and job creation. Once complete, the port expansion should support in the region of 791 full time operational jobs, as well as 177 FTE jobs during the construction phase.“
