Landmark Agreement Between CFPA and Council 11/04/2013

A landmark memorandum of understanding has been signed today joining in partnership the Highland Council and the Cromarty Firth Port Authority.   This will further strengthen good working relationships and produce a blueprint for the future of the Cromarty Firth.

The Leader of the Highland Council, Councillor Drew Hendry, and the Chairman of Cromarty Firth Port Authority, Sandy Cumming CBE, took part in the joint signing ceremony on behalf of both organisations, which took place at the Council Headquarters on Tuesday 9th April.

Sandy Cumming said “We are delighted to be working together and to foster good relationships with the Highland Council.  As a Trust Port, we are operating as a commercial business and have no shareholders, with all our surplus income invested into the Cromarty Firth. Both CFPA and the Highland council have a common aim, this being economic regeneration and the creation of employment opportunities. This Memorandum of Understanding recognises the importance of joint working between both our organisations.”

Leader of The Highland Council, Councillor Drew Hendry said:  The Council has an ambitious programme for sustainable growth in jobs and investment in Highland over the next 5 years and to achieve this we need to forge close working partnerships with other key organisations.  I’m delighted this new Memorandum of Understanding will strengthen our links with the Cromarty Firth Port Authority. Not only will it benefit us as we undertake joint work to promote the area and bring economic growth and large scale employment opportunities but it reflects and reaffirms our shared goals and aspirations. I really see this as a very positive step towards ensuring a bright and prosperous future.”
