Opportunity to View Port Expansion Plans 17/10/2012

As part of the Cromarty Firth Port Authority’s consultation process, the Port is hosting two community drop in sessions on the 4th December from 1-4pm and 13th December, from 5-7pm, at the Arts Centre, Invergordon High Street.
Local residents and community groups will have an opportunity to learn in more depth and to discuss with the Port management, the exciting new plans to expand the Invergordon Service Base.

Captain Ken Gray, Chief Executive & Harbour Master of the Port Authority said “CFPA is committed to the development of the Cromarty Firth and to the economic regeneration of Easter Ross. The Invergordon Service Base plays a major role in creating employment and wealth for the area.  This is an exciting project that will allow the Firth to grow its oil & gas custom and to enter into the offshore renewables market.”
He added “We look forward to engaging with the local community at these events and to show casing our plans for the future of the Port.”

Notes to Editors:

Earlier this year Cromarty Firth Port Authority unveiled plans to reclaim 8 acres from the sea, adding essential operational land to this busy facility, plus the addition of a new deep water berth.  Work is due to be completed in 2015 and should support in the region of 177 jobs during the construction phase and 791 full time jobs once operational.  All of which is good news for the economic regeneration of the area.
