Rigmar announces £10 million investment in Invergordon facility 24/07/2014
From a standing start in 2007, Rigmar has achieved accelerated growth with a group turnover of £10 million in 2012 to more than £30 million in the last year. The company expect turnover to increase to £60 million in 2014, fuelled by strategic acquisitions and organic growth.
Rigmar will invest £10 million on infrastructure, manpower, facility equipment and general running costs over a 5-year period. Rigmar’s agreement with Port of Cromarty Firth will see them lease a fabrication workshop, client office, project management office and 27,000 sq/ft laydown area. The quayside facility dominates the East area of the Port and is strategically located at the heart of rig repair and subsea operations.
Rigmar managing director, Robert Dalziel, said: “Rigmar opened its Invergordon facility in 2012 and following a high level of demand for our services at the Port, recognised that an expansion plan was required in order to capitalise on the opportunities presented by the market place. The £10 million planned investment, will significantly increase our presence in Invergordon and create a strong foothold on the Cromarty Firth.
“Supporting the industry’s largest rig repair, subsea and renewables projects, the port offers deep water anchorages, an internationally recognised supply chain and world class facilities. Our Invergordon site is ideally positioned to help us further meet the requirements of the markets we serve. Teamed with our specialist industry specific divisions, the Invergordon fabrication facility enables us to take on large-scale fabrications projects tailored around the clients needs.”
Port of Cromarty Firth CEO, Bob Buskie, said: “We are delighted that Rigmar have chosen to expand their operations in Invergordon.  They have been a valued customer here since 2012 and we very much look forward to helping them grow their presence at the port.”
“The Cromarty Firth is strategically important.  We offer 40 years experience of handling rigs, as well as sheltered, deep water and an ideal location for the North Sea.  Such significant investment by Rigmar is a major benefit to the local supply chain, as well as enhancing the choice and opportunity for our customers. ”
Rigmar’s presence in Invergordon is set to create a number of job opportunities for the area. Rigmar currently employ approximately 200 staff and expect this to double over the next year.
Further to the investment in Invergordon, Rigmar has relocated it’s Aberdeen HQ, moving from its existing offices and warehousing facility on Greenwell Road (Altens) into a much larger facility on Hareness Circle (Altens), where the company has bought the former Transocean Training Centre. Significant upgrades have been made to this facility in order to meet the future requirements of the company.
Robert continued: “The new HQ increases our capacity and enables us to facilitate our growing team within market specific divisions and specialist services.”
Rigmar recently expanded its offering to include fabrication, inspection, construction, access, scaffolding, blasting and painting, engineering and design, accommodation, drilling facilities and resource management.
The Hareness Circle office will be the HQ for the rapidly expanding organisation, while fabrication facilities in Dundee and Invergordon will form operational hubs.
