Our Mission Statement

The Cromarty Firth Port Authority exists to develop, improve and safeguard the Cromarty Firth as a port for the benefit of all its stakeholders.

The Trust Port

CFPA is constituted as a Trust Port and regulated by the Scottish Government.  It is an independent statutory body operating under the Cromarty Firth Port Authority Order Confirmation Act 1973 (as amended).  Under the Act the Port Authority is responsible for overall control and management of sea-borne traffic in the Cromarty Firth and its approaches as well as for the general conservation of the Port and its development as part of the infrastructure of the regional economy.

In addition CFPA shares with the community and the specialist agencies a specific responsibility for the natural environment of the Firth.

Management

Policy and strategic management of the port is the responsibility of the Board Members, who are selected for their experience and knowledge under procedures set out in Modernising Trust Ports a Guide to Good Governance.

The management team, led by the Port Manager/Harbour Master, undertakes day-to-day operational management.  CFPA has a permanent staff of 20 covering all disciplines and services provided by the Authority.
