Two new Board Members are set to help steer the Cromarty Firth Port Authority into the New Year. 

Former HIE Chief Executive, Sandy Cumming and Donald MacKenzie, Managing Director of the Remote Medical Services division for Abermed, will join the Board for a 3 year period, replacing Port Management Consultant Reg Holder, who retires after 6 years on the Board, and Jamie Stone, politician and ex-MSP, who stepped in as Interim Board Member earlier this year after the sad loss of Alan Torrance.

Neil McArthur, Chairman of the Board of Cromarty Firth Port Authority, said that he was looking forward to working with the new Members.   He adds “Sandy and Donald will bring a wealth of both local and industry knowledge and their appointments are a boost to the team.  Cromarty Firth Port Authority not only has the responsibility of maintaining safe navigation through the waters of the Firth, but is also here to support the economic regeneration of the area and to manage an effective business for the benefit of our stakeholders. ”

Sandy Cumming joins the Board after 10 years as Chief Executive of Highlands & Islands Enterprise, 5 years as Chief Executive of Ross & Cromarty Enterprise and having spent the previous year working with the Scottish Government as Partnership Director for Offshore Energy.  Sandy commented “I appreciate the enormous contribution that the Cromarty Firth makes to the well-being of Easter Ross and the role that renewable energy has to play and am looking forward to contributing over the next 3 years.”

Donald MacKenzie, a qualified Chartered Accountant, has extensive experience in the offshore industry and HR. Originally from Beauly, Donald adds “I firmly believe that the Cromarty Firth can not only continue to benefit from the oil and gas industry, but from offshore renewables and tourism in the form of cruise ships.  This is an opportunity for me to share my extensive experience and assist CFPA to grow its business.” 

Goods and services shipped through the Firth were estimated to be valued at £2bn and up to 1,500 jobs can be supported by the Invergordon Service Base.
